Dita Von Teese is hosting a cocktail making masterclass to celebrate the launch of her new cocktail lounge, Cointreau Prive, would you like to attend? Hmm. Yes please.
Tuesday evening may have been the official launch of the Cointreau Prive at 215 Picadilly, but Thursday saw Dita Von Teese and a handful of bloggers take part in an exclusive cocktail making masterclass, lead by none other than Ms. Teese herself. Guests at the launch may have been treated to one of Dita’s famed burlesque acts, but we got her up close and personal – and her tips on making the perfect cocktail – Cointreau based of course.

It’s not every day I get to say “oh, hello Dita Von Teese”…
Last Thursday, however, was a little different. I was invited to an evening at the Cointreau Privé pop-up lounge, hosted by the lady herself.
After walking up and down Piccadilly numerous times and seeking the assistance of no less than three supposed southerners who had no idea, I finally located the venue, tucked away beneath the bustle of the city. The lounge is a sumptuous affair, draped in red velvet with some lovely art deco touches and just the right number of glittering chandeliers.

When the invitations to take part in an intimate cocktail making class with Dita von Teese were sent out I bet the RSVPs came back quicker than you can say ‘Cointreau Privé’ – which is the newest, time-limited, members only cocktail lounge* in London, styled after the art deco home and ambassadored by the owner of what must be the slimmest waist (22in, can be laced down to 16.5in!) in the world.

You may recall the first three photos from the original Cointreau Privé in Paris. These are slightly higher resolution. The black and whites are from the photographer’s websites; The Night Day and Kround.
Best shoot experience?
“The one with Dita Von Teese was very very nice.”
My Fashion Life: Making cocktails with Cointreau ambassador Dita von Teese

Tuesday may have been the launch night of the Cointreau Privé speakeasy with a whole host of celebs in attendance, but last night it was our turn – the turn of the fashion bloggers!
Burlesque queen and global brand ambassador for Cointreau Dita von Teese – dressed in gorgeous vintage Dolce and Gabbana, complete with her signature seductive, scarlet red lips – was once again present, this time to partake in some cocktail making with some of online’s finest fashionistas.
Naturally, we tried our hand at making the signature citrus and spice cocktail that will be served at the speakeasy which, apart from being one of the strongest cocktails we’ve ever tasted, was also one of the best thanks to its fresh ingredients and of course, Dita’s fine company (she just so happens to be one of the sweetest women ever, as well as the sexiest).
The venue must be very personal to Dita, too, since it’s modelled on her very own LA home and even features some of her personal belongings such as her giant martini glass, which she dutifully performed in on launch night.
The speakeasy is open for an exclusive three-week period, where you can expect to find the finest mixologists serving the most unbeatable orange-liqueur based cocktails while being entertained by very talented cabaret and burlesque acts.
We got a little taste of the atmosphere last night and can safely say we’ll be returning before it disappears on December 17th.
You can find the Cointreau Privé pop-up speakeasy at 215 Piccadilly for the next three weeks – the club is guestlist only, though, so head to www.cointreauprive.co.uk to book your place.
Dita Von Teese hits London in Dolce & Gabbana for Cointreau Privé launch

Burlesque star and style icon Dita Von Teese visited London this week to launch Cointreau Privé, a lavish pop-up bar at 215 Piccadilly (in what was the Pigalle Club). Dita is global ambassador for Cointreau and along with performing her ‘Be Cointreauversial’ show in a giant cocktail glass at the celeb-studded bar opening, last night she hosted a cocktail-making class which the Catwalk Queen team were lucky enough to attend.
Dita – looking as polished as ever in a Dolce & Gabbana lace dress with seamed stockings and Christian Louboutin shoes – claimed she never drinks alone, so with her guidance (and a bit of help from a master mixologist) we whipped up the bar’s signature cocktail, Cointreau Citrus and Spice, and joined her in a toast!
Cointreau Privé itself is modelled after Dita’s own home, with boudoir decor reminiscent of her signature style, and the amazing corseted costume she wore for her performance is now on display at the venue. Check out the bling!
The Cointreau Privé is guestlist only, but you can book a place and see Dita’s world for yourself by visiting Cointreauprive.co.uk . The pop-up bar is open until December 17th.
And here’s a pic of a very excited CQ ed-in-chief Gemma with the lady herself…that’s another thing on the bucket list ticked off!
