ArtDeco Dita Von Teese Cosmetics Discontinued

There’s been speculation regarding the future of the ArtDeco Dita Von Teese line for some time now. I’m only posting this information because TLSC is a reliable source – Nicola has been in contact with ArtDeco regularly since the line was released. Please note that this hasn’t been confirmed by any official DvT source.

I don’t know why the line has been discontinued (I don’t think it was unsuccessful), or why it never made it to the USA. I know many of you were waiting for that. I will post if and when more information is available.

Tender Loving Skin Care: All Dita Von Teese make up to be discontinued
By Nicola
April 26, 2013

This is the official message from Artdeco UK

Last year the beauty icon Dita Von Teese presented three unique makeup collections with ARTDECO.

The products remain available until June 2013 – as long as stock lasts.

For all the Dita fans among you: some bestseller products of the three collections will be added to the ARTDECO basic range: Art Couture Lipstick Velvet no. 607, 615, 628 and the Ceramic Nail Lacquer no. 10, 25 and 156.

So there it is, no more collections and most of the products apart from the 6 mentioned will be gone soon, and as I can see from the picture they will be repackaged without the Dita image.

I’m not personally a fan of the specific vintage look that Dita Von Teese can carry off with perfection, but her make up is so much better than I ever thought it would be and I’m sorry to see it go. I’m a fake tan and ghd straighteners kind of girl, but anyone can wear and pull off her make up collections.

There was always a shift in the best-selling items from month to month depending on whether certain items would be mentioned in a magazine or online, but I’m very surprised that they aren’t keeping “Manslayer” 631 Lipstick on as that shade out sold the other colours on this site.

As I have mentioned before, Nail Polish cannot be sent outside of the UK now.

I hope that for my overseas customers it has given you a taste of how good Artdeco make up is. I have used it for many years and stocked it in my salon when not many people had heard of it and it was difficult to buy online.

It used to be a cult make up brand in the UK, but it is so popular now and we have now caught on to realise how this is the biggest selling make up brand in Europe.

If anyone has any further questions on this or if I am out of stock of something you need then please don’t hesitate to contact me at info@tenderlovingskincare.co.uk

E! Online: Dita Von Teese’s 3 Rules for Flaunting Retro Makeup

E! Online: Dita Von Teese’s 3 Rules for Flaunting Retro Makeup

Burlesque queen Dita Von Teese knows a thing or two about retro beauty: The milky-skinned siren has conjured an entire persona by drawing on a vintage vibe that melds the sensuality of a Varga girl with the kittenish playfulness of Bettie Page.

We recently chatted with the sultry star at the launch of her new lingerie line and she shared her tips and tricks on how to pull off retro makeup with can-do flair—and nope, you don’t need your own supersize martini-glass bathtub to turn heads while doing it.

1. Rock a Red Lip: “I think red lipstick looks good on every woman,” Dita says about this retro-glam must-have. “She just has to find the right red lipstick. I’m a big fan of a matte red lip because it’s easier to wear, and it’s always classic and always elegant.”

2. Go for a Matte Skin: “I love like clear, beautiful, matte skin,” she shares. “It’s always an essential of retro-style makeup, I think. I like a powdered matte finish.”

3. Find Your Old-School Pop-Culture Inspiration: Not everything comes down to makeup and accessories: Dita says that a big part of her retro beauty secret is finding the right old-school inspiration to get her in the right mood. “I like to watch a lot of old movies. That always does it for me,” she says. “I always feel inspired by movies with beautiful, glamorous costumes. And I love musicals. I always go for those 1940s-era Technicolor films with big musical numbers.”

Dita’s “Golden Vintage” Candlelight Powder “Dita” is a finishing powder that I apply only after I have applied all of my makeup…my liquid foundation, mascara, and highlighter, then, and only then do I apply the Candlelight powder with a fluffy brush and a light hand all over my face for that subtle glow. I was so elated to find out that it is suitable for any skin tone. The packaging is gorgeous with a 40s Old Hollywood flair. The compact itself is not as heavy as I had hoped it would be since it is made of plastic. I own a vintage 1940s Elgin American compact (pictured below) that is made completely of high quality heavy metal that I only paid $50 for, while Dita’s compact is $48 alone. I would say that if you are looking for a great finishing powder this is your product, but if you are looking for a high quality compact for show, then look for better vintage options over the internet (Etsy in particular has great options). LOS ANGELES

Emily Berl for the New York Times

DITA VON TEESE doesn’t so much enter a room as materialize there. Before you have quite registered her presence, she is shaking your hand and offering tea, the moment like some deft conjurer’s trick.

“I’m a magician,” she murmurs as if on cue. “I make you see something that wasn’t there before.” That bit of apparent sorcery, she says, is “the very definition of power and glamour.” Continue…
