Excerpts from Petra Magazine

An interview with Dita Von Teese was published in German fashion magazine Petra. You can read the article on the website (in German), but here are some excerpts in English.

“In 20 years I am going to be 60. I am definitely not going to be doing my burlesque show in a thong then!

“Maybe I will publish my memoirs, although in 20 years I might not be so keen to give away some of my particularly dirty stories.”

“I do get offers but maybe I am not passionate enough when it comes to acting,” she explained. “My passion is the world of beauty! I’d rather be famous for what lies in my heart, which is old fashioned beauty and burlesque dancing, than being a famous movie star.”

“I was once told that you need to be true to yourself and do what makes you happy,” the striking dark haired star said, “being glamorous is not a question of money.”

“I remember 20 years ago I earned two dollars per hour working in a pizza restaurant and even then I used red lipstick and dark eye-liner,” she laughed to German publication Petra. “Of course I wear fancier shoes and can afford more beautiful clothes now, but glamour comes from within.”

“I often hear that I would look much younger without make-up. But I don’t care because I want to look glamorous… That’s my motto!” she said. “Never compare yourself to others!”
