BURLESQUE beauty Dita Von Teese will make a splash in red in the Flemington Birdcage today.
Von Teese will slink through the marquees in her trademark glamorous fashion, wearing a scarlet frock from her Dita Von Teese Muse collection, topped with a Philip Treacy-designed hat.
“Philip emailed me when he knew I was going to be here. He is one of the great millinery geniuses of the world and I usually only wear his or Steven Jones’ hats,” Von Teese said.
“I was so thrilled he thought of me and I am really excited with what we have come up with.”
Von Teese was the guest of honour at a cocktail party hosted by her Muse business partner Michele Hamdorf at the Grand Hyatt on Wednesday.
Sipping a Cointreau Teese cocktail, Von Teese seduced guests in a curve-enhancing frock from her collection.
“I am excited about going to the races, because I am sure I will never have seen anything like it,” she said.
“I think it is a shame there are so few occasions where people feel free to wear something different. I am always encouraging people to not be afraid. People love to look at you when you do something unique and different.”
Muse will be stocked by David Jones, and Von Teese said the collection was inspired by her love of vintage fashion.
“I like things that are classic and timeless. I want to bring the feel of vintage to women who want to be glamorous and elegant, but don’t want to look like they are in period frock.”
